Brass River LNG

One of the large International Oil Companies considered placing a liquefaction plant on a gravity based structure (GBS) in the shallow waters of the Nigel delta, south of the Brass River mouth.

The marine environment is challenging in that area: seabed soils consist of under-consolidated alluvial deposits and there is a frequent swell with a wave period of up to 17 seconds coming in from the Bay of Guinea.

Scope of Work: Estimated the bearing capacity and settlement for GBS dynamic effects, namely resonance due to low foundation eigenfrequency. Provided recommendations for soil improvement.
